Polk County Ordinance 88-02
The Minimum Housing Code establishes minimum standards for occupancy, and does not replace or modify standards otherwise established for construction, replacement, or repair of buildings. The code applies to all dwelling units in unincorporated Polk County, regardless of primary use, the date of construction, or whether it’s vacant or occupied. Minimum standards must be maintained for electrical, plumbing, structural, and other areas. Homes that are substandard, abandoned or in disrepair are a code violation.
