Jan Phyl Village
Revitalization Association
Meeting Minutes
The
February 22nd meeting was held at the PCSO District Center on Avenue
G at 7:00 PM. The meeting was called to
order by President Charles Tucker. The
January minutes were read by Secretary Thea Crosier and accepted.
Code
enforcement officer Harvey Green spoke briefly and said that he has processed
61 new cases since January. Harvey
answered many questions from JPV residents, concerning specific active code
violation cases. Al Lococo asked
questions concerning dimensions of trucks that would put them in violation of
parking within the JPV neighborhood.
Harvey Green said he will be happy to present a video program in the
near future ~ showing examples of code violations.
It
was announced that Sheriff’s Dept. officer Jamie Harrell has taken Tammy
Meyer’s place in providing coverage for JPV area. Jamie reported the recent arrest of seven juveniles in JPV. Since that time, crime has dropped 75% in
JPV.
Jamie mentioned that he has many bicycles that have
been turned in ~ either stolen or abandoned.
Please contact him at the Sheriff’s station if you find a bicycle with
no apparent owner. He will be happy to
pick up the bike and try to locate the owner.
Any bicycles not claimed will be “refurbished” for a needy child.
Officer Harrell is interested in planning some
activities for JPV youth ~ such as a kids fishing trip. If you have ideas or
would like to help with this, please see Jamie Harrell at the next meeting on
March 22nd, or you may contact him through the Sheriff’s station.
One
resident raised concern’s about the number of pets a homeowner is allowed to
have in JPV. It was determined that JPV
used to have deed restrictions as to the number of pets per household, but this
has expired. Animal control is happy to
help if you have a problem with stray animals.
Treasurer Thea Crosier gave
a brief update on the “Chance Drawing” ~ and presented former JPVRA President
with a check for $274 to help with his expenses following his heart attack.
There was a question as to if the JPV Fire Station
is still moving? An attendee said he
would be happy to have a representative of the Fire Department at our next
meeting to inform us as to the status of the move.
Resident Larry brought his petition with him to try
to stop the speed limit from being raised to 45 mph on Coleman Road. JPV attendees were asked to sign the
petition before leaving the meeting.
We are still awaiting word from Parks & Recreation
as to a date where they will help us host a “Movie Night” in JPV park.
Next
meeting March 22nd ~ and the “Chance Drawing” winner will be
selected at that time.
