Jan Phyl Village Revitalization Association
Meeting Minutes
January 26th 2006
The JPVRA met for its
monthly meeting on January 26th 2006 at the PCSO district center located at
3635 Ave G. Winter Haven at 7:00pm. President, Bill Brown, brought the meeting
to order with the saying of the pledge of allegiance. Everyone was welcomed to
the meeting and reminded to sign in. The December 15th 2005 minutes were read
and accepted. Treasurer, Lynn Giles, reported that she sold 2 tee shirts giving
a balance on hand of $16.00.
Old business
1) Yard sale - bill
reviewed part of the cd on how to organize a community yard sale. We can use
the park but we cannot reserve it. It is first come first serve. The date for
the yard sale will be saturday March 18th. Money earned will go toward signs,
flyers, stamps, etc. to promote our meetings.
2) Mission statement -
should state what our plans and goals are.
Tentative mission
statement is:
Our mission is to work
together for the common good of our community. We must promote a "no
tolerance" on drugs and crime. We also need to encourage everyone to clean
up and fix up. With us all working together we can revitalize our community and
make it safe and drug free. We can once again be proud of Jan Phyl Village. Remember
it takes us working together to get things done.
3) it was also
suggested to have a motto.
Tentative motto is:
"It takes the
village" working together to make our community a better place to live.
4) Web site -
www.jpvra.org - al has updated the web site. Please take time and visit the
site. If you have any concerns feel free to e-mail any board member from the
web site.
5) Code violation -
the house that was located at 215 6th jpv st has been torn down.
6) Increase attendance
- remember to take a flyer and run copies off and pass out in your
neighborhood.
7) Roadway clean up -
great American clean up Saturday march 11th volunteers needed see Lynn Giles
8) Complaints - Maggie
Circle noise and racing has been corrected. Sidney Circle drugs people moved.
This is a start let's continue.
9) Property between
King Rd. and Coleman - owner wants to zone to build apts. (7) or single family
homes. (outside city) (small lots)

Code Enforement
Harvey works: Wahneta,
Florence Villa, Eloise, and Jan Phyl Village
Code violations were
discussed so are:
A) cars must have up
to date tags
B) bus on Fern
discussed maybe getting county to put no parking signs on street
C) Village
Square, Harvey is working on getting
the owner to clean it up.
D) rodents, need to call the health dept
E) trash in dig on
Coleman need to call roadway
maintain 965-5524
F) Harvey suggested
that the association send out a friendly letter to code violators. He will
supply brochures explaining what are code violations.(will send in letter)
G) code enforcement
board meetings are shown on channel 19 pgtv.
